Who are At the Gates?

The band

At the Gates formed in Gothenburg, Sweden, in 1990, started by former members of the band Grotesque. Their 1995 album Slaughter of the Soul became a landmark of melodic death metal and the Gothenburg sound. Singer and founder Tomas Lindberg died in September 2025, and his final vocals are on The Ghost of a Future Dead, released in April 2026. At the Gates Merch puts the album art, the spire logo and the band's slogans on tees, hoodies and sweatshirts.
